Build Night
Welcome to Build Night! This is a free event hosted by BC Hobbies, where hobbyists come together to build model kits and hang out.
If you’re into building model kits—whether it’s Gunpla, armour, miniatures, aircraft, cars, ships, sci-fi, or anything in between—Build Night is the perfect place to hang out! We meet every Thursday from 5:30–8:30 PM at our Community Event Space (CES) to kick back, build, and share what we love about the hobby. It’s totally free to join—just bring your own kits, tools, and supplies. All ages are welcome, but builders under 13 will need to bring a parent or guardian (trust us, we're not qualified for childcare!).

Spring 2026 Group Build
Our first Build Night: Group Build's Theme: ARMORED CORE VI, FIRES OF RUBICON!
At Build Night on April 23rd, we're beginning our Armored Core Group Build! It's just after the IPMS 2026 Model Showcase, so it's the perfect time to start a new build project. If you'd like to come and participate, pick up an Armored Core model kit from BC Hobbies and build with us.
To participate in the group build, any building must be done on Build Nights to stay in the spirit of the Group Build team spirit. However, painting your kit will have to be done at home. At Build Night on June 4th, we'll be showing off the Group Build and placing it in the CES' Window Display for the whole month of June!

Connect with the Community
Build
Have a backlog of Gunpla, armour, aircraft or other plastic models? BC Hobbies Build Nights are a fun opportunity to enjoy building with others!
Meet
Hobbies don't have to be solitary all the time - it's lots of fun to build with a friend, or meet new ones who are into the same things as you!
Learn
If you're wanting to level up your hobby skills, you can ask a facilitator or other experienced modeller for guidance. Sharing our skills makes us better!
Build Night Rules & Guidelines
We believe respect, and sincerity are two major factors that help make build night enjoyable for everyone
Respect Others
Maintain an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere by refraining from divisive topics and opinions—this isn't the place for that.
Constructive Criticism
Please do not offer critique or commentary on another hobbyist’s project unless asked, and keep it constructive and supportive.
Accompanied Minors
Participants under 13 must have a parent or guardian present throughout the event.
Mindful Conduct
Given the potential presence of children, please refrain from inappropriate language or behavior.
Photography Etiquette
Obtain permission before taking photos of participants or their projects. BC Hobbies may take photos for event documentation.
Rules About Tools
You must bring your own kits, tools, and water-based acrylic paints. Avoid spray cans, airbrushes, and solvent-based paints for ventilation reasons. Younger modelers must be supervised by an adult when using sharp tools like hobby knives.
Parts Bin Usage and Contributions
The parts bin is a free community resource, and is meant to be shared by all attendees. Please don’t take more than is fair. Any contributions of old kits and leftover parts are gratefully accepted!
Facilitator Assistance
Our facilitators are here to help and give advice, but we can't build your model for you.

Map to our CES
All BC Hobbies Events are hosted at our Community Event Space in Hillside Shopping Centre!
Follow this map to get from our store to the CES. Sometimes on Thursdays there may be two events running concurrently. If there is a different event running, just look for a big sign that says "Build Night" and follow the arrow, we may be in the back room!
As always, check our Facebook/Instagram stories for any cancellations. Otherwise, Build Night is every Thursday!
