Booking With BC Hobbies
Welcome to our booking page! Please read the following information carefully prior to booking an event with us.
The Community Event Space (CES)
Our Community Event Space (CES) consists of a Front Room and a Back Room. Please be advised that this means there may be another group using one room while you are using the other.
Front and Back rooms are assigned by BC Hobbies based on first come first serve, so if you are the first one to book time that day, you will likely get the front room. Some events must be held in specific rooms for various logistical reasons.
When you arrive for your session, come to BC Hobbies at least 10 minutes early and a staff member will take you to the Community Event Space.
Available Hours
You can book in 2 hour timeslots using the link at the bottom of this page. Our regular booking schedule is dictated by Hillside Shopping Centre's hours of operation:
Monday - Wednesday: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Thursday & Friday: 10:30 AM -8:30 PM
Saturday: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Sundays: 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Booking Restrictions
Due to our rental agreement with Hillside Shopping Centre, we can only accept CES bookings to a maximum of 3 months in advance. This is because we cannot guarantee we will have access to the CES past that point. Please be advised we cannot accept a booking if the event date is after 3 months.
Rules for the CES
This is a shared community space. In order to ensure the space is maintained, these rules must be followed.
1.) No Restroom in the CES
There is no available restroom in the CES. Please use one of the public restrooms in the mall (like in the Food Court or the Canadian Tire access hallway).
2.) Do not leave the space unattended
One person must be in the space at all times if open or in use. If your session ends early and you need to leave the space for the day, please close the doors and and return to BC Hobbies to check out so we know to lock the room.
3.) Guest in a Public Space
While attending our CES, you are a guest of both BC Hobbies and Hillside Shopping Centre and thus agree to behave accordingly and not partake in any illicit, dangerous or inappropriate activities on our shared premises.
4.) Staff assistance
Staff may periodically check in on the space if in use, but will remain unobtrusive so as to not disturb any active sessions. If a staff member is required, please visit or call the store at 250-383-0051.
5.) Treat the shared space respectfully
There may be a separate event running concurrently in the other room. Please respect their time and privacy while you run your event.
Please do not remove anything from the space. These supplies are for everyone to use. Kindly return all supplies to where you found them at the end of your session.
6.) Outside food is allowed!
Please ensure that all food waste/recycling is disposed of properly. We do not have a microwave or cooking appliances, so bring something you have prepared or purchase food at the food court and dispose of it into the garbage or recycling when you're finished.
